Fall Bucket List - Yummy Drinks

Fall's best flavors in a cup

By Jennifer Ross October 13, 2019

The fall season brings us an array of yummy flavors like apple, pumpkin, and chocolate!  This collection of fall drink recipes will help you cross another item off of the Macaroni Kid Fall Bucket List. Missed the list? Click HERE to view it!

While most of us think fall drinks need to be "warm and toasty", this couldn't be more wrong. These fall flavors are great hot or cold. We have included both options for all our flavors, so give 'em a try and let us know what you think!

P.S. - Just for the adults, I have added a liquor to "spruce" up each recipe, should you choose. Please remember to imbibe responsibly.

  • 2-3 Tbsp of granulated sugar

Easiest Pumpkin Pie Milkshake Ever
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 slice of leftover pumpkin pie (I know, who has leftover pumpkin pie, right?)
  • 1/4 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, hey get crazy with coffee even)
  • 2 or more Tbs of milk - More or less based on your desired consistency
  • Whipped cream
       Seriously, that's it...
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Place pumpkin pie, spice, and 1/2 cup of ice cream, and milk into a blender. Use the pulse button to gently blend everything. Careful not to over blend, we don't want pumpkin soup.
  2. Add additional milk until you reach the desired consistency.
  3. Add the other 1/2 cup of ice cream. Stir in into the mixture.
  4. Pour into cute mason jar or milkshake glass and add whipped cream. If you are feeling extra fancy you can sprinkle some of the pumpkin pie spice or chocolate jimmies on top.
ADULT VERSION ADD
  • Bailey's Pumpkin Spice
  • Vanilla Smirnoff

Fall Flavor -  Apple

Crock Pot Apple Cider

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • Caramel sauce
  • 2 apple cubed

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix the apple cider, brown sugar, apple pie spice, vanilla, apples, and cinnamon sticks to your slow cooker.
  2. Cover and simmer on low for 3 1/2 hours (see step 3)
  3. At 3 hours, stir in 1/2 cup of the caramel sauce. Continue to simmer.
  4. Ladle into mugs and sprinkle with cinnamon.  If you want to get fancy you can rim the glass or mug with a mixture of cider, sugar, and cinnamon.

ADULT VERSION ADD

  • Fireball
  • Your favorite bourbon

Apple Slush - this recipe does require some prep ahead of time

INGREDIENTS

  • Your favorite apples cider

YOU WILL ALSO NEED

  • Ice cube tray (We don't have ice cube trays at home so I use the various holiday Jello molds we have collected and store in the basement)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prep the slush by pouring cider into an ice cube tray (or Jello mold) to make cider cubes.
  2. Once cubes are frozen, place in a blender and add liquid cider. Start with 1/4 cup and add more as necessary, until you get a slushy consistency.
  3. Pour into glass and enjoy!

      Super simple, right!?!

ADULT VERSION ADD (add to the 1/4 cup liquid portion)

  • Fireball
  • Caramel Vodka

Fall Flavor -  Chocolate

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Tbs of creamy peanut butter ( do not use any "all natural" version, it won't mix well)
  • 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 1/2 cups of milk, preferably whole milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Mini Marshmallows

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a medium sauce pan, add the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Gently stir until fully melted and no lumps are visible. Chocolate can be temperamental, so keep your eye on the heat and reduce if necessary.
  2. Add a little of your milk, whisk until mixed, and then repeat until all milk is added and incorporated. This takes a little finesse, so don't worry, just keep stirring and it will eventually come together.
  3. Add in the cocoa powder and continue to whisk until fully mixed.
  4. Mixture is ready when it begins to froth on top.
  5. Ladle into mugs and top with any mixture of whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate syrup, cocoa powder, or melted peanut butter... Go Crazy!

ADULT VERSION ADD

  • Rumchata
  • Smirnoff Whipped Cream

Frozen Hot Chocolate

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups chocolate milk
  • 2 cups powdered hot chocolate mix
  • 6-8 cups ice cubes
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate jimmies

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Layer chocolate milk, then powdered mix, followed by ice into a blender. Blend into nice and smooth.
  2. Garnish each glass by rimming with whipped cream and jimmies. Pour mixture into glasses. Top each drink with whipped cream and more chocolate jimmies.

ADULT VERSION ADD

  • Caramel smirnoff
  • Kahlua
